Greek salad with dried rusks
- 2 barley or wheat rusks
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 cucumbers
- 5-6 black olives
- 1 onion
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 100 gr mizithra or feta cheese
- 4 tbsps olive oil or according to taste
The following salad is a traditional plate in the area of Mylopotamos on Crete.
In a salad bowl, break the rusks into chunks and dampen slightly with 2 tbsps olive oil. Wash tomatoes, cucumber and pepper. Chop them into pieces and put them on the rusks. Add the roughly chopped onion and olives. Add salt and oregano, drizzle with remaining oil (or more) and mix. Finally put mizithra or feta cheese in crumbs.
